With family as the driving force behind many of his actions, Velton went from having a strong family life to homelessness, time in jail and drug abuse and now he is restarting and recovering. The death of several family members weighed heavy upon him and as he struggled to keep his emotions in check, his violent personality led him down a destructive path. Now, his siblings and cousins want him back so he's doing what he can to get better for them and for himself. His family, his faith in God and the Long Beach Rescue Mission are the foundation for Velton's new beginning.
After just two weeks in the Rescue Mission's year long New Life Program, Velton has already begun to learn how to control his anger and says that his advice to others in the world is to "humble yourself."
